Here's my recipe for an award-winning pizza dough that combines traditional Italian techniques with a modern approach to achieve a perfectly crispy and flavorful crust.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 envelope active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  2. Add the warm water and olive oil to the bowl and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 10-15 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough briefly, then divide it into 2-4 portions, depending on how many pizzas you want to make.
  6. Shape each portion of dough into a ball, then cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F (232 degrees C) with a baking stone or sheet pan inside for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Roll out each portion of dough into a circle that is about 12 inches in diameter, then transfer the dough to a lightly floured pizza peel or parchment paper.
  9. Add your desired toppings and bake the pizza according to the instructions in the previous recipe. This pizza dough is versatile and can be customized to suit your preferences, whether you prefer a thin and crispy crust or a thicker, chewier crust.

With the right toppings and cooking techniques, this dough can help you create an award-winning pizza that will impress your friends and family.
